It is a 4-week therapeutic group for boys that uses horses and farm activities to build confidence, connection, and real-life skills. Sessions are hands-on and experiential -- boys learn by doing, not by sitting in a circle and talking about their feelings. The herd does the heavy lifting.

Boys ages 5-7 and boys ages 8-12. It is especially well suited for boys navigating ADHD, ASD, anxiety, or emotional challenges who tend to shut down in traditional talk-based settings. No prior experience with horses is needed -- or expected.

Therapy4Boys Therapeutic Farm, Rockyview County -- about 10 minutes north of Calgary. Exact directions are provided after registration

Each 90-minute session is led by Lance Drozda, Registered Clinical Counsellor, at the Therapy4Boys Therapeutic Farm in Rockyview County. Boys work directly with horses and engage in farm activities in a small group setting. The structure is consistent from week to week so boys know what to expect, which helps them settle in and actually participate.

Not at all. Part of what makes this work is that horses respond to how a boy shows up -- not how much he knows. That dynamic creates real, in-the-moment feedback that no worksheet can replicate. Boys start from zero and that is exactly the point.

The full 4-week program is $480. A $120 receipt is provided after each attended session, which you can submit to your extended benefits plan. Coverage varies by plan and provider -- check with your insurer in advance if you are relying on reimbursement.

Only 4 spots per group. This is intentional. Small numbers mean each boy gets real attention, which increases intimacy and connection during the group. Groups will not be expanded past 4 attendees once groups are full.
